CHAI: Social AI Platform is an AI-powered app that allows you to chat with AI-driven characters, each with a unique voice and personality. The character library is extensie and AI models are refined to answer in a highly human-like manner, maintaining their personalities and unique dispositions throughout the conversation.

The app also offers a character creation feature that lets every user create their own character. It also offers an image-generation feature that helps users take their creative expression further.

The QAwerk team of expert engineers tested CHAI: Social AI thoroughly during our bug crawl. We found the app to be fun and promising. However, we discovered a few issues that could disrupt the user experience. Please, take a look at our findings below.

Inability to load more search results

Precondition:

Log in to the app.

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Launch the app.
  2. Tap the ‘Search’ icon in the main navigation menu.
  3. Enter a valid search input into the ‘Search anything…’ field, for example, ‘psychologist’.
  4. Execute the search.
  5. Scroll down the results.
  6. Tap the ‘Load More’ button.
Environment:

iPhone 17 Pro Max
iOS 26.2

Actual Result:

After tapping the ‘Load More’ button, no additional results are displayed. Instead, the page appears to refresh.

Expected Result:

Tapping the ‘Load More’ button should display additional search results.

Screen blinks when users, who have not previously purchased subscription, tap ‘Restore Purchase’ button

Precondition:
  1. The app is installed.
  2. A fresh account with no purchases is created.
Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Launch the app.
  2. The ‘Subscription’ page should be displayed.
  3. Tap the ‘Restore purchases’ button at the bottom of the page.

Actual Result:

The screen blinks briefly, and no relevant message is displayed.

Expected Result:

The user should receive clear, comprehensible feedback stating that no purchases are available for restoration.

Homescreen issue with long chat AI names: they are not truncated, leading to UI layout issues in top chat section

Precondition:

Log in to the app.

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Launch the app.
  2. Tap the ‘Home’ icon in the main navigation menu.
  3. Tap the ‘Plus’ button to create a new chat.
  4. Tap the ‘Continue’ button.
  5. Enter a Chat AI name with the maximum allowed length (60 characters).
  6. Tap the ‘Continue’ button 3 times in a row.
  7. Write any valid first message, for example, ‘Test’.
  8. Tap the ‘Continue’ button.
  9. Tap the ‘Publish’ button.
  10. Observe the top chat section on the homepage.

Actual Result:

Rather than truncating, the long chat AI name extends, leading to user interface layout problems in the top chat section.

Expected Result:

The system should automatically truncate long chat AI names with an ellipsis to prevent layout issues.

Application unresponsive or displays endless loader in absence of internet connectivity

Precondition:

Ensure the device is not connected to the internet.

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Launch the app.
  2. Perform a search on the homepage or navigate through the application.
  3. Observe the screen reactions.

Actual Result:

The application becomes unresponsive or displays an endless loader.

Expected Result:

The user should receive a notification informing them that an internet connection is required to proceed.

The app is interesting and offers an engaging experience with creative AI-driven interactions. There’s clear potential in the concept, but some features could be improved with comprehensive usability and UI testing.
