Bugs Found in Weglot SaaS

Weglot is a comprehensive web-based platform that offers website translation solutions for businesses of varying sizes. This application includes user-friendly features designed to improve the site’s accessibility for a global audience.
Deeper into its functionality, Weglot enables website translations into multiple languages seamlessly and swiftly. It integrates well with diverse website technologies, ensuring full coverage of the site’s content, regardless of the platform used.
We tested Weglot as part of QAwerk’s Bug Crawl program. During this exploration, we identified several bugs that impact the platform’s performance and the website the Weglot plugin is connected to. We invite you to review our findings to better understand the issues discovered and support the platform’s continued improvement.
‘Weglot’ translation platform becomes unresponsive after multiple avatar changes in ‘Profile’
Critical
The user is logged in to the ‘Weglot’ account.
- Click on the ‘Profile’ icon.
- Select the ‘Profile’.
- Click the ‘upload your avatar’ link.
- Upload an avatar.
- Repeat step 4 a few times.
- Observe the result.

The ‘Weglot’ translation platform becomes unresponsive after an avatar in the ‘Profile’ was changed a few times.
The ‘Weglot’ translation platform should continue to operate normally, regardless of how many times the user changes their avatar.
Website design breaks after changing language in language selector

- The website CMS supports the ‘Weglot’ plugin.
- The ‘Weglot’ plugin is connected to the website.
- Switch the original language to the destination language in the website’s language selector.
- Observe the website’s design.

- Click the ‘Contact our sales team’ button.
- Observe the result.

After clicking the ‘Contact our sales team’ button, the user should be directed to a way to contact the sales team.
‘Weglot’ account deletion and repeated registration resets trial period to 14 days
Major
- The user is logged in to the free ‘Weglot’ account via Google.
- The user has less than 14 days of the trial period remaining.
- Click the ‘Profile’ icon.
- Select the ‘Profile’.
- Click the ‘Delete my account’ option.
- Click the ‘Yes I’m sure’ button in the ‘Are you sure you want to delete your account?’ pop-up.
- Sign up for the ‘Weglot’ platform again using the same Google account.
- Observe the trial period duration.

- Navigate to the ‘Projects’ page on the ‘Weglot’ platform.
- Choose the project related to the website with the connected ‘Weglot’ plugin.
- Manually edit some translations.
- Navigate to the ‘Translations by languages’ page and switch the ‘Display automatic translations’ toggle OFF in the ‘Options’ dropdown.
- Navigate to the website with the connected ‘Weglot’ plugin.
- Check if the manually edited translations are applied.

Weglot AI translation tool provides a useful solution for website owners. Just connect a plugin to the site and get support in any supported language. While testing this product, I found that the connected app negatively affects the website's design and could even break the layout. I recommend running thorough testing of the app on every level to ensure it lives up to its great potential.
