Bugs Found in CHASING

Chasing is a revolutionary platform that brings the world of underwater exploration to your fingertips. The application offers user-friendly and advanced tools for both professionals and hobbyists alike.
This platform allows users to remotely operate underwater drones, enabling a comprehensive exploration experience. You can observe marine life, check equipment, or simply indulge your curiosity about the ocean depths.
As part of the QAwerk team’s weekly bug crawl, we tested CHASING and unearthed several bugs that affect both user experience and the app’s overall performance. We invite you to see our findings to better understand this wonderful app that takes you to the world below the waterline.
‘State/Province’ dropdown list is empty when attempting to add new address
Critical
- The user is logged in.
- Navigate to the ‘Profile’ section.
- Open the ‘My Address’ tab.
- Click the ‘Add shipping address’ button.
- Open the ‘State/Province’ dropdown list.
- Observe the available options.
- Enter a city into the ‘City’ field.
- Open the ‘State/Province’ dropdown list again.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
The ‘State/Province’ dropdown list is empty. Entering a city name does not fill the dropdown list with any options. As ‘State/Province’ is a required field, the user is unable to complete and save the address.
The ‘State/Province’ dropdown list should display the available options. The options should be populated based on the chosen country and/or entered city. The user should be able to select a State/Province and complete the address form. If an unsupported region is selected, a clear validation error message should be displayed next to the ‘State/Province’ field indicating that the chosen region is not supported.
Header remains expanded after navigating to product page
Major
- The user is on the website homepage.
- An expandable header is present on the website.
- Position the cursor over the website header on the homepage.
- Expand the ‘Products’ tab in the header.
- Click the option for ‘Consumer Underwater Drones’ in the ‘Products’ section.
- Prior to the full loading of the product page, hover over the ‘Products’ segment in the header.
- Allow the product page to fully load.
- Move the cursor away from the header or click anywhere outside the expanded header.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
After the page fully loads, the header remains in its expanded state. Moving the cursor away or clicking outside the header does not close it. The expanded header appears to be persistently open.
Regardless of the page load status, the header should retract automatically when the cursor is removed from its area or when the user clicks outside it. Regular header interaction should not be disrupted by navigation or page loading.
Videos in ‘User Creations’ section play twice simultaneously
Major
- The user is logged in.
- A product card featuring a ‘User Creations’ section is available.
- Navigate to and open a product card, e.g., ‘Dory Explore’.
- Scroll down to locate the ‘User Creations’ section.
- Select and open any video.
- Seek halfway through the video.
- Pause the video.
- Listen to the audio playback.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
Despite appearing to pause at the dictated position, the audio from the beginning of the same video continues playing in the background, indicating that dual instances of the video are running concurrently.
At any given time, only a single instance of a video should be playing. Once the video is paused after seeking, there should not be the residual audio of another video instance playing in the background.
Video playback is laggy in Firefox
Major
- The user is logged in.
- Navigate to a specific product page, e.g., ‘Gladius Mini S’.
- Click the ‘Watch Video’ button.
- Observe the video playback.
OS: Windows 10
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
The video playback is choppy and stutters in Firefox. However, the same video plays smoothly in Chromium-based browsers.
The video should play smoothly without any stuttering or noticeable performance complications in Firefox.
Switching to mobile viewport displays an incorrect country availability error
Major
- The user is logged in.
- The application is launched on a desktop browser.
- Open the application in a desktop browser.
- Resize the browser window to a mobile viewport width.
- Observe the application behavior.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
After switching to the mobile layout, the following error message is displayed: ‘It seems you’re in a country where direct sales are unavailable. Please contact hi@chasing.com or switch your country.’ The message is displayed even though the user’s country has not changed.
Altering the size of the browser window or converting to a mobile layout should not hamper the user’s country of sales accessibility. The application should continue working normally without displaying an incorrect country availability error.
Cart popover closes when moving cursor diagonally from ‘Cart’ button to cart window
Major
- The user is logged in.
- The cart icon is displayed in the header section.
- Hover the cursor over the ‘Cart’ button located in the header section.
- Note that the cart window appears diagonally below the button.
- Move the cursor diagonally from the ‘Cart’ button toward the center of the cart window.
- Observe the cart window while moving the cursor.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
The cart window unexpectedly closes while the cursor is moving diagonally from the ‘Cart’ button towards the window. To keep the cart window open, the user must first move the cursor downward and then move it diagonally toward the window. This observed behavior is unanticipated, as users typically tend to proceed directly towards the center of the opened cart window.
The cart window should consistently remain open while the cursor is moved from the ‘Cart’ button towards any point within the cart window, including a diagonal movement. The popover should close only when the cursor leaves both the cart button and the cart window.
‘My Reviews’ tab displays localization keys instead of user-facing text
Major
- The user is logged in.
- The user must have access to the ‘Profile’ page.
- Register a new account.
- Navigate to the ‘My Profile’ section.
- Open the ‘My Reviews’ tab.
- Observe the text displayed on the page.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
The page displays internal localization keys instead of the translated text. Some examples include:
- reviews_v2.title
- reviews_v2.tab_item_text_1
- Others that start with ‘reviews_v2.’
All localization keys should be replaced with the corresponding user-facing text. The ‘My Reviews’ tab should be displayed in a manner consistent with the rest of the application.
‘Close Video’ button displays an incorrect tooltip
Minor
- The user is logged in.
- A product card including a video feature must be available.
- Open a product card.
- Open the video.
- Hover the mouse cursor over the ‘X’ (‘Close Video’) button in the upper right corner.
- Observe the tooltip that appears.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
The tooltip displays the untranslated text ‘daohang_icon_guanbi’.
The ‘X’ button should display a clear, user-friendly tooltip, such as ‘Close’.
Support chat displays tooltip with hieroglyphic characters for echatsoft.com link
Minor
- The user is logged in.
- The support chat function must be available.
- Open the support chat.
- Hover the cursor on the echatsoft.com text/link.
- Observe the tooltip.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
The tooltip for the echatsoft.com link is rendered in hieroglyphic characters, making it non-readable and irrelevant to the user.
The tooltip should display readable and relevant text in the language supported by the application.
‘My Account Details’ fields are silently truncated after saving excessively long values
Minor
- The user is logged in.
- Navigate to the ‘Profile’ section.
- Open the ‘My Account Details’ tab.
- Enter an excessively long text (e.g., approximately 100 paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum) into the ‘Nickname’ field.
- Enter the same type of excessively long text into the ‘Phone Number’ field.
- Click the ‘Save’ button.
- Refresh the page.
- Observe the saved values.
OS: Windows 10
Google Chrome: Version 150.0.7871.129
Mozilla Firefox: Version 151.0.3
Microsoft Edge: Version 150.0.4078.83
A success message is displayed after saving. After reloading the page, the entered values are truncated to the maximum allowed length. The user is not informed that the entered values were too long or that they were truncated. The success message gives the impression that the entire input was saved successfully.
The fields should validate the maximum allowed length before saving. If the entered values exceed the allowed length, the user should receive a clear validation message indicating that the values are too long and will be truncated. A success message should not be displayed as if the full values were saved when the values have been modified or truncated.
While testing CHASING SaaS, I identified several issues with video freezing or duplication, along with quite a few localization and UI errors. I recommend running a full set of functional and UI tests, along with regression testing, to ensure any fixes stick without compromising the software.
