Bugs Found in Idle Crash – Merge Tycoon for iOS
Idle Crash – Merge Tycoon is a fun game that keeps users entertained with beautiful graphics and original gameplay flows. Also, you’ll be literally printing cash in this game, which is definitely not a standard clicker scenario.
The app is original in its execution of classic gameplay and offers a task system to further the player’s entertainment. You also get to evolve your character and implement multiple trend modes for various bonuses.
The QAwerk team had a lot of fun conducting a bug crawl on this app. Our conclusion is that while the gameplay is solid, the reward system has a few bugs that affect the player’s experience. Rewarded skin remains locked despite watching ad, only gems are granted

- A free skin is available for unlocking by watching a rewarded ad.

Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch the game.
- Navigate to the ‘Skins’ screen.
- Select a free skin that can be unlocked by watching an ad.
- Tap the button to watch the rewarded ad.
- Watch the ad until it finishes.
- Return to the ‘Skins’ screen.

Actual Result:
The selected skin remains locked. Only gems are added to the user’s balance, and a message indicates that another ad is not yet available. The skin becomes available only after approximately 10–15 minutes.
Expected Result:
The selected skin should be unlocked immediately after successfully watching the rewarded ad.
User can perform additional wheel spins without watching required rewarded ads

- The user has used the available free wheel spin.
- The ‘Spin’ button displays an advertisement icon.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Launch the game.
- Navigate to the ‘Spin Wheel’ screen.
- Use the available free spin.
- Observe that the ‘Spin’ button displays an advertisement icon.
- Tap the ‘Spin’ button again without watching an ad.
- Repeat the action several times.

The user can perform additional spins without watching rewarded ads, even though the ‘Spin’ button displays an advertisement icon.
Expected Result:
After the free spin is used, the user should be required to watch a rewarded ad before each additional spin.
Screen flickers after tapping ‘Restore Purchase’ button

Expected Result:
The restore purchase request should be processed without screen flickering or other visual issues. A confirmation, loading indicator, or error message should be displayed when appropriate.
‘Not connected’ error message is displayed after first launch despite stable network connection

Steps to Reproduce:
- Install the game.
- Ensure that the device has a stable internet connection.
- Launch the game for the first time.
- Observe the initial loading process.

Actual Result:
A ‘Not connected’ error message is displayed even though the device has a stable network connection.
Expected Result:
The game should connect successfully and should not display a network error when a stable connection is available.
During testing, I identified several issues affecting rewarded ads, skin unlocking, wheel spins, purchase restoration, and the initial network connection. The most significant problems are related to the rewarded-ad logic, as rewards are not always granted correctly. I recommend performing additional regression testing of all rewarded-ad scenarios, including delayed rewards, repeated taps, interrupted ads, network changes, app backgrounding, and multiple reward attempts.
