Bugs Found in SUN AI: Audiobook & Podcasts for Android
SUN AI is an educational platform that generates audio content for podcasts and audiobooks. You can use it to get context-aware answers about any topics you are exploring. Simply listen to whatever grabbed your interest, and SUN AI should provide clarifications or additional information you require to better understand the topic or even an author’s point of view.
We tested SUN AI for Android during our bug crawl and found some issues ranging from the app going white screen and non-responsive to minor UI bugs. Take a look at our detailed report and the tester’s recommendations on how to improve this highly promising educational tool.
White screen appears after returning from background mode, requiring full app restart to recover
Severity:

Steps to Reproduce:
- In the bottom menu, tap the ‘Generate’ button.
- Enter a prompt.
- Tap the ‘Send’ button.
- Minimize the app and leave it in the background for 10 minutes.
- Re-open the app.

Actual Result:
After returning from the background mode, the app displays a white screen and becomes completely unresponsive. Restarting the app is required to recover.
Expected Result:
The app should restore its previous state and display content correctly when returning from background mode, without requiring a restart.
Unable to start any audio lesson: app displays ‘Unable to load audio’ error message despite active connection

- Tap the ‘Start listening’ button.
- Wait for the audio to load.

Actual Result:
The app displays an ‘Unable to load audio — Check your connection and try again’ error message with a ‘Try again’ button, and the audio lesson fails to start, even though the device has an active internet connection.
Expected Result:
The audio lesson should load and start playing without errors when the device has an active internet connection.
Generation session loses connection after a few minutes, requiring reload to recover

After a few minutes, the app displays a ‘Connection closed. Tap to reconnect.’ message and the generation stops. Reloading the app resolves the issue.
Expected Result:
The generation session should remain connected and complete without dropping or requiring a manual reload.
Search screen freezes and stutters when scrolling through results

- Enter a query, e.g., ‘wings’ or ‘life’.
- Scroll through the results as they appear.

Actual Result:
When scrolling through search results, the screen animation stutters heavily and freezes. Result thumbnails load slowly, and all requests appear to load simultaneously instead of progressively.
Expected Result:
Search results should load and render smoothly, with images loading progressively and scrolling remaining responsive without freezing.
Share dialog text is unreadable due to low contrast, and ‘Copy-link’ button is not visible

Actual Result:
The ‘Create Shareable Link’ dialog displays dark text on a dark/low-contrast background, making the title, description, and ‘Cancel’/’Create Link’ buttons nearly unreadable. The dialog remains illegible even under adjusted device contrast settings.
Expected Result:
The share dialog should display text and buttons with sufficient contrast against the background, ensuring all content and actions are clearly readable and visible.
Audio from ‘Flows’ keeps playing in background and overlaps with voice samples on ‘Generate’ screen

- Tap the ‘Generate’ button.
- Tap the third button (voice selection).

Actual Result:
The audio that started playing on the ‘Flows’ screen continues in the background, and playing a voice sample on the ‘Generate’ screen overlaps with it, resulting in both sounds playing simultaneously.
Expected Result:
Navigating away from the ‘Flows’ screen, or playing a voice sample, should stop the previous audio so only one audio feed plays at a time.
Generated content duration does not match requested length: 90 minutes requested, only 48 minutes delivered

- Tap the middle button (content duration selector).
- Select 90 minutes.

- Tap the ‘Send’ button.
- Wait for the generation to complete.

Dark theme setting fails to apply: app stays in light mode after selection

- Tap the ‘Appearance’ button.

- Tap a few buttons in the bottom menu.

Expected Result:

Bottom navigation menu overlaps ‘Logout’ button on ‘Profile’ settings screen

The bottom part of the course description text is cut off and hidden behind the bottom navigation menu, making it impossible to read the full content because the menu overlaps it.
Expected Result:
The description text should have sufficient bottom padding so the full content is readable and not obscured by the bottom navigation menu.
App displays ‘Welcome back’ message on first login instead of new-user greeting

Precondition:
Register a new account.

- Complete the registration flow.
- Log in to the app for the first time.

On first login, the app displays a ‘Welcome back’ message, which is the returning-user greeting.
Expected Result:
On first login, the app should display a first-time greeting appropriate for new users, not a ‘Welcome back’ message.
I found a few bugs while testing SUN AI, most of them related to UI and AI flows.
