Bugs found in Tuudo for iOS
Tuudo is a mobile solution for students of 30+ educational institutions across Finland, such as Arcada University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki Business College, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, University of Lapland, and others.
It is designed to simplify navigation around the campus, keep track of upcoming courses and exams, and stay up to date with the latest faculty news and venue changes. With Tuudo, students can enroll for courses and exams, view the automatically generated schedule, monitor their credits, search for individuals and services, and view public transport timetables, among other essentials.
Our QA engineers gave the Tuudo app one round of manual testing to help the app creators improve it and make it a true value-add for users. Let’s view the bug report!
403 error displayed on ‘Local public transport’ page
Severity:

Precondition:
- Select University of Vaasa from the list.
- Click the ‘Proceed’ button on the ‘New student’ section.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Navigate to the ‘Local public transport’ tab.
Environment:
Iphone X

Actual Result:
403 error (Microsoft-Azure application-Gateway/v2) is displayed on the ‘Local public transport’ page.
Expected Result:
The ‘Local public transport’ page should be displayed properly.
No input validation on ‘Modify profile’ form
Severity:

Precondition:
- Select University of Vaasa from the list.
- Click the ‘Proceed’ button on the ‘New student’ section.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Navigate to the ‘Career Paths’ tab.
- Click ‘Modify profile’.
- Enter invalid inputs to some of the fields on the form, e.g. email, phone number.
- Save changes.

No validation messages are displayed.
Expected Result:
The validation messages on the fields with invalid data should be displayed.
Impossible to fill in ‘Full name’ field on ‘Modify profile’ form

Steps to Reproduce:
- Navigate to the ‘Career Paths’ tab.
- Click ‘Modify profile’.
- Try to update the ‘Full name’ field.

It’s impossible to put the cursor to the ‘Full name’ field for entering the value.
Expected Result:
It should be possible to fill in the ‘Full name’ field.
‘Summer jobs 2023’ list isn’t filtered properly by education sector and industry

- Open University of Vaasa as a new student.
Steps to Reproduce:
- Navigate to the ‘Career Paths’ tab.
- Select ‘Summer jobs 2023’.
- Filter the list by some education center.
- Observe the results.
- Filter the list by industry.
- Observe the result.

The list of jobs wasn’t filtered by the selected education center and industry.
Expected Result:
The list of jobs should be filtered according to the chosen criteria.
Double lists with same values appear if user selects ‘Field of study’, ‘Business or industry’, ‘Types of work’, ‘Year of study’ categories

- Navigate to the ‘Career Paths’ tab.
- Click ‘Modify profile’.
- Select any field of study.
- Click on the chosen field of study inside of the field.

Expected Result:
Each field opens only one list with values for selection.
Not all content is translated to English on ‘Career paths’ & ‘Wellbeing’ tabs

- The language is set to English in the app’s settings.

- Navigate to ‘Career paths’ & ‘Wellbeing’ tabs.

Actual Result:
Not all content is translated to English. It doesn’t work properly for other languages as well.
Expected Result:
All elements should be translated to the chosen language in the settings.
For testing, I chose the University of Vaasa because it was possible to log in as a new student. I found issues related to filtering lists, validation, translation, and a 403 error on the local public transport page. I recommend increasing testing efforts with a special focus on the mentioned areas.
