Bugs found in SurveyMonkey SaaS
SurveyMonkey is the all-in-one platform for surveys, forms, and market research. It empowers users to ask the right questions the right way and extract fast, powerful insights that fuel smarter decisions.
SurveyMonkey offers you to delight customers, improve your workplace, or grow your market share.
Our QAwerk team recently carried out an in-depth Bug Crawl of SurveyMonkey’s SaaS platform. The app performed reliably overall, but we uncovered some issues in the survey editor that could interrupt user flow and data entry accuracy. Here’s what we found during our inspection.
Inconsistent auto-scrolling to top when clicking Edit button
Major
The user is on the Edit Survey page.
- Add a big GIF to your logo.
- Scroll down to the Title section.
- Click the “Edit” button next to Title.
- Click the “Edit” button next to “Page title”.
Windows 10 x64; Chrome Version 135.0.7049.97; Firefox Version 137.0.2; Edge Version 135.0.3179.85
Sometimes after clicking the “Edit” button, the page auto-scrolls to the top; sometimes it doesn’t.
Page should always auto-scroll to the top consistently when entering edit mode.
No validation of text length in comment creation section
Minor
- The user is on the Edit Survey page.
- The user has copied a large text (e.g., 536 words).
- Click the comment icon.
- Click the “Add a comment” field.
- Paste the copied text.
Windows 10 x64; Chrome Version 135.0.7049.97; Firefox Version 137.0.2; Edge Version 135.0.3179.85
Nothing happens after a user clicks the Paste option.
Validation message should be shown if the text length exceeds acceptable limits.
UI buttons (EDIT, OPTIONS, LOGIC) overlap question text
Minor
The user is on the Edit Survey page.
Hover a cursor over the question text.
Windows 10 x64; Chrome Version 135.0.7049.97; Firefox Version 137.0.2; Edge Version 135.0.3179.85
UI buttons such as EDIT, OPTIONS, and LOGIC overlap with the question text.
Buttons should appear outside or above the question area without obstructing the content.
SurveyMonkey's core functionality remains stable, but UI overlap and validation oversights may reduce confidence in editing workflows. Fixing these issues will streamline the user experience and reduce friction for power users and enterprise clients alike.
